Taste of London June 2019

Last month our team went along to one of the most delicious food events the UK has to offer – Taste of London. Every June, foodies flock to Regents Park – which transforms into an alfresco summer paradise, where revellers explore and indulge in food that’s simply out of this world!

This year’s theme was “Wild in the City”, focusing on ideas around sustainability – Restaurants looked at urban farming and growing food in an urban setting.

Over 50,000 people attended Taste of London in 2019 – it’s definitely grown in popularity and it’s one for the calendar. If you missed out this June don’t worry….. Taste of London is on twice this year and it returns to the Tobacco Dock, London from 21st – 24th November.

Work up an Appetite

There’s tonnes of things to see and do; meander through the many stands, try out innovative new food from London’s most popular restaurants, take in a masterclass, sip a cocktail or kick back and listen to some live music….

Restaurant Trends

Taste is the ideal opportunity to explore a whole a range of different cuisines and restaurants all in the one location. There’s so much on offer it’s nearly impossible to take it all in, so our advice is to have a look at the map and plan ahead – picking out some of your favourites before you arrive.

This year there were over 40 restaurants at Taste, so it was really nice to see what flavours, ingredients and dishes were popular with the crowd.

We weren’t able to try out all 40 but we did our very best. Here’s just a snippet….

Masterclasses

A selection of world class chefs took to the stage to give away their top secret tips and tricks to the eager attendees. We’d suggest choosing a masterclass you like in advance and get there as early as possible because they fill up really quickly. There was a great buzz at the masterclasses with a blend of young professional chefs and of course enthusiasts not wanting to miss out on the chance to hear from the industry pros.

Demos

The Fire Pit is without a doubt the most popular cooking demonstration at the event. The Pit takes centre stage with gorgeous flame grilled dishes being prepared. This year eight top chefs were showing off their skills over the open flames.
